Short answer
The usual obstacle is not locating the item but completing a compliant handoff. Some facilities and police offices will only send to an address in Japan. After an authorized recipient receives and verifies it, the owner can arrange an eligible international courier pickup. Exact documents and shipping restrictions depend on the holder and the item.

Verify the holder and reference number
Use only the facility or police department's official contact details. Record the case, inquiry, or property reference number exactly.

Ask which authorization form, owner ID copy, recipient ID, address, and signatures are required. Do not assume one form works for every holder.

Arrange the Japanese handoff
Where permitted, the holder sends domestically or releases the item to the authorized recipient. Domestic postage and any cash-on-delivery charge are separate.

Book international collection
After the item is checked, choose a courier that accepts the contents and book pickup from the Japanese address. The owner remains the courier's customer.
