SERVICE TERMS
Terms, fees, and service boundary
Plain-language terms for Japan Lost Item Rescue. The version accepted with each request is recorded.
1. Service
We provide inquiry, authorization support, domestic proxy receipt, visual matching, ordinary repacking, and physical handoff to a courier selected and contracted by the customer. We do not provide or resell transportation, customs brokerage, legal services, or a guarantee of recovery or delivery.
2. Start fee: $19
The start fee covers one loss incident, contact with up to five reasonably likely facilities, and up to seven calendar days of initial coordination. It becomes non-refundable when facility-contact work begins. If we reject the case before work begins, it is refunded.
3. Success fee: $45
The success fee becomes due only after the item reaches our Japanese address and reasonably matches the customer's description. Courier handoff occurs after payment. Domestic postage, courier charges, customs duties, taxes, destination fees, and non-standard packing are separate.
4. Customer courier contract
International shipping is not included in either service fee. After a match, the customer chooses the shipping method, creates and pays for the FedEx or DHL shipment, schedules remote pickup from the Japanese address we provide, supplies truthful shipment and customs information, and authorizes us to print documents, attach labels, and hand the parcel to that courier. Carrier terms govern transportation, delay, loss, damage, customs, and delivery.
5. Exclusions
We may reject regulated, dangerous, illegal, highly valuable, identity-sensitive, perishable, or otherwise unsuitable items, including the exclusions shown on the service page. We may stop a case if ownership, identity, facility authorization, or lawful shipment cannot be established.
6. Temporary custody and unclaimed items
Custody is incidental to verification and courier handoff, not a storage service. We hold a matched item without a storage fee for seven calendar days after emailing the matched-item notice. The customer must pay the success fee and provide courier pickup instructions within that period.
If the customer does not respond, we send a final notice and may suspend service. Depending on the item and the original facility's rules, we may continue storage for a separately disclosed reasonable fee, return it to the facility, transfer it to an appropriate authority, or seek the customer's separate disposal instruction. We do not automatically destroy passports, identity documents, financial instruments, regulated items, or property where disposal may be unlawful. Any disposal occurs only after notice and where permitted by law.
7. Responsibility
The customer is responsible for accurate ownership, contact, payment, customs, and pickup information and for responding to notices. We are not responsible for delay or extra cost caused solely by inaccurate information or the customer's failure to respond, except to the extent caused by our intentional misconduct or negligence and subject to applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Updates
We make an initial contact attempt to each selected facility within three business days and email the then-current status. A facility response, recovery, release, or delivery within that period is not guaranteed.
